Caring for Your Jewelry

by Taitus

Thank you for your purchase and for supporting Ecuadorian craftsmanship. Each CACUSA piece is made with dedication, and with the right care you can enjoy it for much longer.

Avoid contact with water

Don't shower, swim or wash dishes while wearing your jewelry. Constant moisture and the chlorine or salt in water dull the plating and weaken the clasps and joints over time. Take it off before showering or going to the pool or sea.

Keep away from chemicals and cosmetics

Avoid direct contact with perfumes, creams, alcohol, lotions and sunscreen. These products contain chemicals that react with the material and speed up tarnishing or color change.

  • Apply perfume and cream before putting on your jewelry, never after
  • Avoid hand sanitizer gel and hand cleansers while wearing your jewelry

Store it correctly

When not wearing it, store it in its original packaging or in an individual pouch, separate from other jewelry to prevent scratching. Keep it in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and humidity.

Take it off for these activities

  • Sleeping
  • Exercising or playing sports
  • Cooking or doing housework
  • Sunbathing or exposure to intense heat

Recommended cleaning

Clean your jewelry occasionally with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and the skin's natural oils. Avoid toothpaste, baking soda or other abrasive products: they can scratch the surface and damage the finish.

By following this care, your CACUSA jewelry will keep its shine and color for much longer. ✦

Why does the material matter?

Each CACUSA material behaves differently, and knowing the difference helps you care for it better:

  • Sterling silver 925: real sterling silver (92.5% pure). It's durable, but can tarnish slightly with air and humidity — a soft cloth restores its original shine.
  • 18k gold plating: a thin layer of gold over a metal base. It's more affordable than solid gold, but being a thin layer, it wears faster with frequent contact with water, chemicals, or friction — which is why the care tips above matter especially for these pieces.
  • Stainless steel: the most resistant to water, knocks, and daily wear. It doesn't tarnish easily and is a good hypoallergenic option if your skin is sensitive to other metals.

Browse pieces by category: rings, chains, earrings and bracelets.

At CACUSA we create to make you look more beautiful than you already are.
